Originating from the ancient Mediterranean, the term Oxymel is Greek for acid & honey and is a traditional blend of vinegar & honey used for centuries as a soothing, refreshing tonic.
Our Black Garlic Oxymel combines slow-aged black garlic, Devon apple cider vinegar with mother, and local unpasturised single source Dartmoor honey.
Left to mature for 6 to 9 months, the sharpness of the vinegar softens into something deep, rounded and unexpectedly complex. The black garlic brings dark, savoury depth; the honey gives a sweet gentle floral finish.
Not a syrup and not a sauce in the usual sense — it is a beautifully balanced sweet-and-sour pantry bottle to use wherever a little richness and brightness are welcome. Add a dash to dressings, roasted vegetables, marinades, cheese, grilled meats, or with sparkling water for that refreshing tonic.
